A "Normal" Day...

Monday afternoon I drafted a post entitled "What A Normal Day!" (Should have posted it sooner, haha) It was so nice to have a normal Monday with a schedule, routine, and of course, lots of fun learning activities. Let's remember them fondly, shall we? Who knows what the week ahead will bring, but no matter what Room 12 will keep learning and growing. :-) Here's a peek at our fun on Monday:

Snow Day!

Happy Snow Day #2! This is the view from our classroom window. It isn't the same without all our smiling faces! Hope everyone is safe and warm today and that you enjoy the little bit of snow outside. Use this time to practice for your Black History project! We will present our projects whenever we return to school, and I can't wait to see them. :-) See you soon! 

Feeling the Love

Happy Sunday, everyone! Wishing you a happy Valentine's Weekend and hope you've enjoyed some love-filled time at home. We had a great few days last week. We learned about Harriet Tubman on our field trip, successfully took 3 days of the COGAT Test, and continued to make progress with MClass testing. Whew!

Here are a few things coming up:

• Timed Tests: Multiplication tests start Tuesday! Students will test one multiplication table each Tuesday and Thursday. They will have 2 minutes to answer 20 problems. 
• "Darkness to Light" Training: Offered at Oakwood Tuesday Feb. 17 5:30-7:30 in the library. This training will also be offered in Spanish. 
• Class Pictures: Tuesday Feb. 17
• Progress Reports: Sent home Friday Feb. 20
• Oakwood Talent Show: Friday Feb. 20 at 7:00pm

Come by to read some cute couplet poetry! They did a great job.

COGAT Testing

Hi, everyone! Just a quick note to remind you that COGAT Testing will start tomorrow. Students have been troopers with MClass testing and benchmarks, but the fun continues. :-) Here's what you need to know:

• COGAT Tests run Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
• Testing starts at 8:45- Please arrive on time so students do not feel rushed. :-)
• Each day we will test for about an hour (Hopefully making it to Specials!) 
• Snack and a normal schedule will follow

If you have any questions please feel free to let me know. Let's all go to bed and eat a good breakfast so we can do our very best this week!

Spelling Help

Our spelling unit this week is a toughy! We worked a bit in class today, but if anyone needs some extra help understanding the "schwa sound" here are some resources. :-)
